Kaon neutrinoless double beta decay in effective field theory

Xiao-Dong Ma

We systematically study the lepton number violating process K ± → πlα±lβ± in the framework of effective field theory. We start from dimension-7 operators in standard model effective field theory(SMEFT) to integrate out the heavy standard model states and match onto low energy effective field theory(LEFT) at eletroweak(EW) scale. After including the QCD running effect from EW scale to chiral symmetry breaking scale, we further match the obtained LEFT onto chiral perturbation theory at the later scale to obtain the effective interactions among the relevant mesons and leptons. In this way, we give a master formula numerically for the branching ratio of the process in question as the function of SMEFT parameters. Last, we use the experimental upper bound to constrain the SMEFT parameters.
